4. Amp, Cable, Tuners and Picks
If your choice is an electric guitar, you wanna make sure that your guitar can be amplified. So in addition to buying an electric guitar, get a guitar amplifier and cable as well. An amp makes your guitar louder, and It also has a built-in distortion effect which can make your guitar sound more interesting.
You’ll also need a guitar tuner device, or download a free guitar-tuner app. A guitar tuner is a device that electronically tunes the vibration of the strings of guitars, bass guitars and other stringed instruments to specific pitches. When a guitar is tuned, the goal is to have each string’s note sound as close as possible to the desired pitch.
Another thing you’ll need is a guitar pick (or a dozen of them). A guitar pick is a small piece of hard material (usually plastic or metal) that is used to strike the strings of a guitar, mandolin or other stringed instrument. They are typically finger-sized, and will often have a dented or pointy shape on one edge to create a more pronounced sound. A popular type of guitar pick is the “teardrop” shape. This pick not only offers great grip when the player grips it between their thumb and index finger but also produces an excellent sound quality.
